Fun Walk 16 December 2025 and Boule Competition 5 January 2026

The Rooiels Outreach hosts a community fun walk every December holidays as part of our commitment to encourage community spirit and enjoy a good social get-together as a village. On this particular occasion, 43 walkers and 2 dogs took part in the walk.  At the end of the circular route, walkers got to enjoy Gossip Corner’s special offer burgers and hot dog rolls, as well as a cold drink! As always, some great donations of various goods were received from the generous walkers in lieu of an “entry fee”.

We would also like to thank Johan and Jackie de Jager for specially opening the restaurant that day, as well as the staff who were willing to come in on their “off” day to prepare the food. Well done, Rooiels community!

Another fun-filled day of intense Boule competition was held on Monday 5 January 2026 at Bonny Banks, the home of Willie and Denise Boltman. Once again, a big thank you to the Boltmans for the use of their beautiful garden. As always, there was fierce competition between the four teams of four players each, with some good-natured discussions as to which ball WAS actually closest to the jack!  Free refreshments were available, kindly sponsored by the Rooiels Boat Club. At the end of the Round Robin competition, all players received a ‘prize’, some of which were sponsored by the Stals family from the Rooiels Shop. It was a great day of fun and socialising, and we all came home a little ‘bouled out’ and quite sunburnt!
