Brigadoon, a memory centre in the heart of Bettys Bay, a village in the Overstrand district of the Western Cape was full of excitement on the 23d December 2024 when Christmas hampers were delivered by Wolfgang, Karin, and Leonora- elves of the Rooiels Outreach.
A Christmas hamper, comprising sweet goodies, toiletries, and fun items, is given to each of the the twenty-eight residents of Brigadoon. The contents of the hampers are donated by members of the community, residing in Rooiels and Pringle Bay.
JC, manager of Brigadoon, plays his role as Father Christmas with great gusto and most of the residents’ delight in their gift. Some residents are visited by family members on Christmas day, and all partake in a hearty Christmas lunch, not least of all the famous trifle desert.
Christmas carols are sung on Christmas eve by the carers and the residents are encouraged to sing along. After all is said and done, all is quiet as everyone settles down to another grateful year, hearts full of JOY.
