Back 2 School Shoe Project

Rooiels Outreach Trust

Early in January 2021 we focused our energies on providing children in our community with school shoes. Many learners in our area commute on foot to school, and need shoes to protect their feet.

We received names and shoe sizes from our local school, Kleinmond Primary, and the search was on to find the right shoes for the right feet! We approached the Bata shoe company to be part of this initiative. They were very generous with their contribution, and we were able to match many of the feet with their Bata Toughees.

We turned to the Rooiels community and were generously supported in this project in numerous ways. We are grateful for the generosity offered by the SPAR group, which allows a pair of school shoes to be bought for only R50.00.

We were able to put shoes on many feet. Besides protection, school shoes are symbolic of pride and give confidence to learners knowing they can walk to school in comfort.
