On Monday, 28 April 2025, another fun Boulle ‘competition’ was organised by the Rooiels Outreach team. The event was kindly hosted by Willie and Denise Boltmann, in their beautiful garden at ‘Bonny Banks’, their Rooiels residence.
The players were various Rooiels residents, as well as some keen visitors from Betty’s Bay, which added to the competitiveness of the teams. Teams were drawn out of a hat, and six teams of four players each competed against each other in a type of ‘Round Robin’ tournament, each team determined to bag first prize! In lieu of entry fees, clothing and blankets donations were received, for distribution among disadvantaged communities in our area.
The competition was fierce and lively, with many a friendly argument, and much detailed measuring of similar distances of ‘boulle’ balls from the ‘jack’.
Prizes were kindly donated by the Rooiels Village shop, and both the winning team, and the runners up walked away with various fun prizes. A lucky draw prize also added to the excitement of the day.
By lunch time everyone was ‘boulled’ out, and the day ended with a social community braai, enjoyed by all the participants. A great conclusion to a fun day!
