In appreciation of the many service providers who support our community so faithfully throughout the year, we invited our village residents to help us bake cookies as a small gesture of thanks. The response was overwhelming.
On a bright and busy morning, a group of Rooiels ladies, gathered to sort, pack and prepare the treats. Laughter filled the room as cookies were carefully placed into bags, and by the end of the morning we had assembled close to an incredible 200 goodie bags.
These were delivered to several dedicated teams who serve our area, including the Kleinmond Community Clinic, South African Police Service (SAPS), Child Welfare South Africa, local waste management staff, and the hardworking “honeysucker” team who keep essential services running smoothly. Other delighted recipients were the Fire department, local traffic services and the staff of the Overstrand youth care centre. Each of these service providers go above and beyond for residents throughout the year, and this is a small way to say thank you. We appreciate you.
Each delivery was met with warm smiles and genuine appreciation. It was a small token of gratitude for individuals who give so generously of their time and energy, often without public recognition. The joy on their faces — and the anticipation of enjoying some delicious homemade cookies — reminded us once again of the power of simple acts of kindness within a caring community.
