In Kleinmond, a town in the Overstrand District, there is a place of safety for children who have been orphaned or due to circumstances have been taken away from their domestic situation. There are twenty-six children on most days, but this number varies according to the circumstances.
The Secret Santa project was thought of whereby we could give each child in the care facility a gift that could bring them some joy and excitement.
We went to the Rooiels community for donations, and we were met with great generosity. We received donations from many residents including family members who live abroad. We were able to put together a gift for each child that was received with big smiles. Many of the Rooiels ladies donated their time when it came to putting the gifts together. A “packing party” was organised and lots of fun was had by all.
On the day of the Santa party each child received their gift with great anticipation to see what they had received.
A fun day was had by all, and witnessing the joy reminded us of the privilege of being part of this event.
